Born Learning Trail
Children are constantly learning, right from birth. Their early years are the foundation for growth and development, and what they learn during those years depends on the experiences they have each and every day. This is our greatest challenge as caregivers, as well as our greatest opportunity. The Born Learning Trail is an interactive, playful and visible community engagement tool, designed to help parents, caregivers and communities support early learning.
The Born Learning Trail captures 10 fun outdoor games on engaging signs to help parents and caregivers create learning opportunities for a young child.
A Born Learning Trail is a half-day project for a group of approximately 10-12 volunteers. Duties would include digging holes for the ten signs, securing signs with concrete, painting stencils on sidewalk or other hard surface area and installing signs onto poles.
Although most Born Learning Trail projects are sponsored by corporate partners interested in early learning and installed using their personnel, there will be opportunities for interested community volunteers to participate.
If you would like to receive information about how to sponsor a Born Learning Trail or how to coordinate or join an installation team please, contact Donna Hurley, Vice President of Community Impact, United Way of the Coastal Bend: 361-882-2529 x118 or donna.hurley@uwcb.org.
