Community Impact Discretionary Grants
Community Impact discretionary grants are small single grants to organizations addressing a primary impact area of United Way of the Coastal Bend. Such grants must be matched dollar-for-dollar in order to leverage additional program support and maximize contributions.
2000 – 2010
Palmer Drug Abuse Program
Award: $5,000
The Palmer Drug Abuse Program is a nonprofit helping people heal from the effects of mind changing chemicals and helping our community through partnership in prevention and education.
Coastal Bend Day of Giving
Award: $5,000
A one-day, internet based campaign of financial giving offered to local charities to raise funds that are then matched by ten funding sources.
2008 – 2009
Amistad Community Health Center
Award: $11,250
Amistad Community Health Center is a nonprofit, faith-based organization founded in June 2005 whose purpose is to address serious health disparities in Corpus Christi and Nueces County, Texas with an affordable primary care program that offers medical, behavioral health and related services.
Mission of Mercy
Award: $5,000
Mission of Mercy is a mobile health clinic providing free healthcare, including medial and prescription medications, to the uninsured working poor so they can remain healthy, self-sufficient, and able to work and care for their families in Bishop, Corpus Christi, Orange Grove and Robstown, TX
Project K.E.Y.S. (Keeping Every Youth in School)
Award: $2,500
An initiative born of Corpus Christi Independent School District’s Office of High School Completion, the City of Corpus Christie and the Diocese of Corpus Christi, Operation K.E.Y.S. is a community walk whereby teams of CCISD employees and community volunteers visit the homes of out-of-school youth to reconnect them with school in effort to increase local high school graduation rates.
