MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

United Way of the Coastal bend is in its 72nd year of service to the people of the Coastal Bend. The mission of the UWCB is centered around "improving the quality of life for people in the community through planning, fundraising and allocation of resources." In 2008, our mission has never been more critical.

Under the leadership of past Chair, Jesse Garcia, we built upon a transformation begun in 2006. Completing the move to new corporate offices on Caranchua in January of 2007, the United Way of the Coastal Bend is positioned to serve the needs of our client base in and around South Texas. Working in partnership with Catrina Steinocher and her dedicated staff, the board is committed to furthering the mission of the UWCB.

We have been fortunate to be able to continue to attract business leaders from key industries in the region to serve on the board of directors. Together with this group of devoted individuals, I look forward to the year ahead and the important role the UWCB plays in the lives of those in our community.

I consider it an honor to serve as Chair of United Way of the Coastal Bend for 2008. I look forward to working with our board to continue the important efforts of the United Way.
