Nueces County Home Visiting Program
Mission: To enhance home visiting opportunities for families and promote community support for pregnant women and parents of all children birth to age five.

The Nueces County Home Visiting Program provides evidence-based home visiting services and promotes a seamless delivery of health and human services to ensure that all children are healthy and ready for school. The programs are voluntary services that match parents with trained professionals to provide information and support during pregnancy and throughout their child’s first five years. All services are provided FREE of charge.

| Home Instruction for Parents of
Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY)
The Early Head Start Home-Based program focuses on providing high quality, flexible, and culturally competent child development and parent support services with an emphasis on the role of the parent as the child’s first, and most important, relationship. The target population is low-income pregnant women and families with children ages birth through age 3 years.
The HIPPY program focuses on promoting school readiness by empowering parents as their children's first teacher by giving them the tools, skills, and confidence they need to work with their children in the home. The program is designed for parents who have doubts about or lack confidence in their ability to instruct their children and prepare them for school. The target population is families with children ages 3 through 5 years.
|Nurse-Family Partnership||Parents as Teachers|
The Nurse-Family Partnership program focuses on improving prenatal care, quality of parenting and life prospects for mothers by partnering them with a registered nurse. The target population is low-income, first time pregnant women.
The Parents as Teachers program focuses on providing parents with child development knowledge and parenting support to ensure that young children are healthy, safe, and ready to learn. The target population is pregnant women and families with children ages birth through 5 years.
This program is funded by a grant awarded to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. United Way of the Coastal Bend has been contracted by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to administer the Texas Home Visiting Program for Nueces County.
