Message from our President

  I am sure it is not a surprise to you to hear the needs in our community are greater now than ever before. With this increased demand for services, comes a need to focus our work and our impact for the benefit of the Coastal Bend region. In April 2009 the United Way of the Coastal Bend Board of Directors voted to adopt the Impact Areas of Education, Income and Health - the true building blocks for a good life. The focus on these specific areas will allow United Way to support the core components needed for a fulfilling, quality life: an education leading to a stable job, income to provide for a family and good health. 

The Education component is geared towards helping children and youth achieve their potential. The Income portion concentrates on promoting financial stability and independence and, fittingly, the goal of Health is improving the overall health of the community. We know these three Impact Areas are the foundation for creating a better Coastal Bend and we look forward to collaborating with our many partners to improve the lives of our friends and neighbors. As the saying goes, ‘A community is only as strong as the least of our persons,’ so by focusing on the building blocks of Education, Income and Health, we are creating a better life for ALL of our citizens.
