CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – United Way of the Coastal Bend hosted a holiday-themed drive-through distribution event on Dec. 14 for first-time mothers and their families enrolled in the organization’s Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Program. Staff dressed in holiday attire greeted guests as they drove through and provided clients with food, activities, books, self-care items, and other supplies.
"I am so thankful for NFP and my amazing nurse," said Brianna Davis, an expectant mother and current NFP client. "As a first-time mom expecting twins, I have been beyond overwhelmed and scared. However, I have been put at ease meeting with my nurse. The events they host for us are just the icing on top."
Nurse-Family Partnership is a free community health program that supports first-time moms by having specially-trained nurses regularly visit and provide support early in the pregnancy through the child’s second birthday. The program has helped more than 330 families since joining United Way of the Coastal Bend in 2017, and serves women who are:
- First-time mothers,
- At or under 28 weeks gestation at the time of their enrollment,
- Residing in Nueces County or live within 25 miles of the NFP office at United Way of the Coastal Bend (4659 Everhart Road), and
- Meet certain income requirements.
