Free tax prep assistance extended to accommodate new tax deadline

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Coastal Bend Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Coalition wants to remind Texas residents that the deadline to file their federal tax returns has been extended to June 15, 2021.
 
The IRS announced the extended deadline after FEMA issued a disaster declaration following February’s winter storms that affected much of Texas. 
 
To accommodate the new deadline, the VITA program, which provides free tax return preparation to those whose household income was $66,000 or less, has extended its services.
 
Those who qualify can drop-off their tax documents at one of four VITA sites in Corpus Christi to have their tax returns prepared for free by an IRS-certified VITA volunteer:
