CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – Families with young children may expect to receive items to fuel both their bodies and a love for reading when visiting local food pantries in Nueces County.

United Way of the Coastal Bend’s Success By 6 Early Childhood Initiative (Success By 6) is providing 689 children’s books to be distributed at food pantries led by Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi and Wesley Community Center.

FamilyWize, the prescription discount service that’s helping communities in need, has announced it is teaming up with Walgreens and United Way to offer free flu vaccinations in communities across the country, including the Coastal Bend. This partnership reinforces FamilyWize’s ongoing commitment to helping people in need access critical medications including the preventative flu vaccine ahead of the cold and flu season.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – By mobilizing the caring power of community, United Way of the Coastal Bend has provided more than $720,000 to help local residents affected by COVID-19.

When the pandemic initially began to affect the Coastal Bend back in March, United Way of the Coastal Bend established a COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund to help local non-profits provide direct services to those being affected. 

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The City of Corpus Christi and United Way of the Coastal Bend (UWCB) have awarded $475,000 to 32 local nonprofit agencies to help keep them in business during the COVID-19 economic downturn.

The Nonprofit Recovery Fund was established in July by action of the City Council. More than 50 organizations representing more than $1.2 million in requests submitted applications to the fund. Many indicated a loss in revenue due to cancelled fundraisers and decreased donations, leading to cuts in services and employee layoffs.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – More than 18,000 students across 43 Coastal Bend school districts will receive free school supplies through the organization’s 30^th annual Operation Supply Our Students (SOS) community-wide school supply drive. The annual school supply drive is an initiative led by United Way of the Coastal Bend in partnership with H-E-B and KRIS Communications.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The City of Corpus Christi has partnered with United Way of the Coastal Bend to help administer grants through a $500,000 Nonprofit Recovery Fund. The fund will provide grants to eligible organizations located and providing services in Corpus Christi to support their administrative costs such as working capital, utility bills, rent, mortgage, and more.
