Free flu vaccines available to Coastal Bend residents

United Way of the Coastal Bend provides more than $720,000 for local COVID-19 response and recovery efforts

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – By mobilizing the caring power of community, United Way of the Coastal Bend has provided more than $720,000 to help local residents affected by COVID-19.

When the pandemic initially began to affect the Coastal Bend back in March, United Way of the Coastal Bend established a COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund to help local non-profits provide direct services to those being affected. 

City of Corpus Christi, United Way of the Coastal Bend award $475,000 to local nonprofits affected by COVID-19 economic downturn

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The City of Corpus Christi and United Way of the Coastal Bend (UWCB) have awarded $475,000 to 32 local nonprofit agencies to help keep them in business during the COVID-19 economic downturn.

The Nonprofit Recovery Fund was established in July by action of the City Council. More than 50 organizations representing more than $1.2 million in requests submitted applications to the fund. Many indicated a loss in revenue due to cancelled fundraisers and decreased donations, leading to cuts in services and employee layoffs.

More than 18,000 Coastal Bend students will receive free school supplies through United Way of the Coastal Bend

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – More than 18,000 students across 43 Coastal Bend school districts will receive free school supplies through the organization’s 30th annual Operation Supply Our Students (SOS) community-wide school supply drive. The annual school supply drive is an initiative led by United Way of the Coastal Bend in partnership with H-E-B and KRIS Communications.

City of Corpus Christi, United Way of the Coastal Bend announce recovery fund to assist nonprofits affected by COVID-19

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The City of Corpus Christi has partnered with United Way of the Coastal Bend to help administer grants through a $500,000 Nonprofit Recovery Fund. The fund will provide grants to eligible organizations located and providing services in Corpus Christi to support their administrative costs such as working capital, utility bills, rent, mortgage, and more.

Funding available for local non-profits providing COVID-19 relief

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – Local non-profit organizations providing direct services to those affected by COVID-19 may qualify for financial assistance through United Way of the Coastal Bend.
 
United Way of the Coastal Bend’s COVID-19 Fund was established in March to aid local response and recovery efforts. The fund offers financial resources to area non-profits so that they can provide food, rent/utility assistance, healthcare, and other direct services to Coastal Bend residents affected by the pandemic.
 

Free tax prep being offered at United Way of the Coastal Bend

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – Those still needing to file their 2019 tax returns may qualify for free tax preparation assistance being offered at United Way of the Coastal Bend.
 
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free tax preparation services to individuals and families who earned $56,000 or less in 2019. Those who qualify can receive free basic tax return preparation from IRS-certified volunteers who can help them claim available tax credits and electronically file their taxes.
 

SABIC, Kansas City Southern contribute to United Way of the Coastal Bend's COVID-19 Fund

SABIC and Kansas City Southern are among the latest to support United Way of the Coastal Bend's efforts to help local residents affected by COVID-19.
 
United Way of the Coastal Bend received a $25,000 contribution from SABIC and a $3,000 contribution from Kansas City Southern. Combined with other donations received from United Way Worldwide, area businesses and individual donors, the total raised for United Way of the Coastal Bend’s COVID-19 Fund now stands at $414,157.
